Worldwide ting

Happy Holidays from WetNotDry. Ever wonder if the same fat white male luggs his big ass through the chimneys of good little boys and girls in Mexico where there are no chimneys? Oh yeah but we arent the center of the Universe. Check out how they celebrate in a few other countries:

Austria

The feast of St Nicholas marks the beginning of Christmas in Austria. The saint accompanied by the devil asks children for a list of their good and bad deeds. Good children are given sweets, toys and nuts. Gifts that are placed under the tree are opened after dinner on Christmas Eve.
Brass instruments play chorale music room church steeples, and carol singers, carrying blazing torches and a manger from house to house, gather on the church steps.
Silent Night was first sung in 1818, in the village church of Oberndorf. There is a story told of how Christmas was almost spoiled for the villagers that year.
On Christmas Eve, the priest went into the church and found that the organ was not working. The leather bellows that are used to pump the air through the pipes were full of holes. Christmas without music would not do so the priest showed the organist Franz Bauer a new Christmas hymn he had written. Franz quickly composed a tune for it that could be played on a guitar. So Oberndorf had music after all.
In Austria baked carp is served for the traditional Christmas dinner.
December 6 in Austria is when Heiliger Nikolaus or St. Nicholas, rewards good children with sweets, nuts and apples.
On December 24, the Christ Child brings presents and the Christmas tree for the children. The children wait until they hear a bell tinkling. Then they enter a special room where the Christmas tree is waiting all decorated with candles, ornaments and candies. The whole family sings Christmas carols and wishes each other:
FROLICHE WEIHNACHTEN!

Bethlehem

In Bethlehem the town where Jesus is said to have been born is the site of the Church of the Nativity, which is ablaze with flags and decorations on every Christmas. On Christmas Eve natives and visitors alike crowd the church's doorways and stand on the roof to watch for the dramatic annual procession. Galloping horsemen and police mounted on Arabian horses lead the parade. They are followed by solitary horseman carrying a cross and sitting astride a coal-black steed, then comes the churchmen and government officials. The procession solemnly enters the doors and places an ancient effigy of the Holy Child in the Church. Deep winding stairs lead to a grotto where visitors find a silver star marking the site of the birth of Jesus.
Christian homes in Bethlehem are marked by a cross painted over the door and each home displays a homemade manger scene. A star is set up on a pole in the village square.

Ethiopia

The Ethiopian Christmas known as Ganna is celebrated on January 7th. This celebration takes place in ancient churches carved from solid volcanic rock and also in modern churches that are designed in three concentric circles. Men and boys sit separately from girls and women. Also the choir sings from the outside circle.
People receive candles as they enter the church. After lighting the candles everyone walks around the church three times, then stands throughout the mass, which may last up to three hours.
Food served at Christmas usually includes injera, a sourdough pancake like bread. Injera serves as both plate and fork. Doro wat, a spicy chicken stew might be the main meal. A piece of the injera is used to scoop up the wat. Baskets decorated beautifully are used to serve the wat.
Gift giving is a very small part of Christmas celebration. Children usually receive very simple presents such as clothing.
In Ethiopia Christmas day is January 7, so on Christmas Eve the city is crowded with pilgrims from all parts of the country. They remain outdoors all night, praying and chanting. In the morning, a colorful procession makes its way to a nearby hilltop where a service is held. Three young men march at the head of the crowd, lashing whips from left to right to keep the people in line. Those who worship are fed with bread and wine that has been blessed by priests. After the service is over the rest of the day is spent dancing, playing sport and feasting.

Japan

Only 1 per cent of Japanese people believe in Christ. Even so, most Japanese people decorate their stores and homes with evergreens during Christmas.
They enjoy giving each other gifts, and this is the part they celebrate.
They have a Buddhist monk called Hotei-osho who acts like Santa Claus. He brings presents to each house and leaves them for the children. Some think he has eyes in the back of his head, so children try to behave like he is nearby.
Amng the Christian Japanese Christmas is not a day for the family. They do not have turkey or plum pudding, rather than that the day is spent doing nice things for others especially those who are sick in hospitals.
Christmas for those in Sunday schools is the happiest day of the year. On Christmas Eve or Christmas night, the children put on programs that last for hours, they sing, they recite and they put on a drama of the day Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
Most children may not like Hotei-osho so they may receive their presents from Santa who goes around with a red-nosed reindeer

Ding Dong the Ike is Dead

Thats a horrible way to speak of the dead actually. BUT, I have a vivid memory of one of my favorite childhood movies... not 'Alice in Wonderland', but 'Whats love got to do with it' the reinactment of Ike and Tina Turners relationship. Myself and maybe 5 of my little cousins would park our innappropriately young asses in front of our tv, and play the VHS (which was a recorded version of when it was on TV so commercials included ladies and gents) and sing every song, act out every fight and cringe at every blow Ike turners Character (Laurence Fishburne) threw heartlessly at Tina's (Angela Basset). Since then weve sworn to Carve that fucker's 'Tail feather' out if we ever saw him in person.

L. Pawso.. Inhabits Exhibition

Thirteen emerging artists from SAIC’s Advanced Fiber and Material Studies class employ a variety of mediums and processes to address ideas of space and habit. Customary textile processes such as knitting, weaving, printing and embroidery are prevalent in these artists’ exploration of what it means to inhabit or create a space while addressing individual conceptual concerns. Works ranging from large scale floor installations to intimate artist books are among the venues used to expand upon these traditional processes. Featuring work from our German princess, Laura Pawson. yaaaaahhdada.

Dr. Buzzards Savannah Band

I came up on this band maybe a year or two ago, after I had an uncontrollable urge to find out who the fuck all the samples from the various bangers that were coming out were from. Some of my fav. joints, Ghostface's "Cher Chez La Ghoste" and my fellow Indian princess M.I.A.'s "Sunshower" originated here in this band. Other notable samplers were Tribe Called Quest, DeLaSoul, and Doug E. Fresh. I read an article online where Andy Hernandez a member talked about his audition. "When I auditioned to join the group, they didn't even ask me to play any music. They gave me a questionaire to fill out instead." The questionaire asked for information like: What is your political affiliation? What type of women do you go out with? Would you be willing not to wear tight pants? Do you consider yourself straight or a brat? Andy scored 48 out of a possible 100 points---higher than dozens of others that applied and he was invited to join the group.... What a fuckin plan. Id join in a heartbeat. Listening to their certain undeniably piff jumpoffs is so necessary such as: Sunshowers, I'll Play the fool, Cher ChezLaFemme/ C'est Si Bon, Whisperer, and Sour and Sweet. Get your miscellanious random oldies but goodies tracks weight up. Its best to know where the good shit came from, to understand where music is now. I dont think its a bad idea in fact im gonna get busy on this joint right here ;)

Haunted Swingset

In this video you will see a perpetually moving playground swing that has spooked families and police in Argentina. The swing will simply start to rock back and forwards without being touched. In an attempt to explain the swing’s mysterious movement, police called in physics professors. But even they have been unable to explain why the swing keeps moving. Residents claim the middle swing in a playground in the town of Firmat can keep moving continuously for ten days before suddenly coming to a halt.

My mom sent me a chain email yesterday, which she does often now since shes discovered the internet.... I threw up a little. peep the situation....

I'M DONE WITH CHINESE FOOD FOREVER!!!

Amin's 's Chinese Halal Restaurant
57 William Street , Newark , NJ 07102
(973) 621-2111

This restaurant got closed down yesterday. It was told by a reliable source that PSEG needed to use Amin's entrance in the basement to assist another shop that was having a gas leak, the service worker went into the basement of Amins and discover a butcher chopping meat, that's fine, but he was putting the meat in a crate on the floor (not good) but wait there's more, there were 20 dead rats on the floor. The service worker left the site told his boss and the city inspectors moved in. They noticed that the so called "rats" which were reported were no longer there. The inspectors then came across a padlocked door and instructed one of the cooks to unlock it. This is what they found other workers doing outside behind the restaurant.
